What are tablatures?

Tabs or tablatures are a way to help guitarists read music. The basis of tabs is that you see exactly where your fingers should be on the fretboard. Like this:

G#m           F#/G#
e|--------4----------2--|
B|------4------------2--|
G|----4-----------3-----|
D|--------------4-------|
A|----------------------|
E|--4---------4---------|

Here in FreezeZone this is the way all the tabs will (or at least should) look. The strings are in the order you would see if your guitars neck would be laying on the table. Little e is the high e and capital E is for the lower e-string. If the song has different tunings (ie. dropped D) you can see it from the tabs straight away. I strongly suggest that you use chord labels on the tab, since it makes the reading a lot easier. If you can and will, bar lines are also very good. There are many ways to write tab, but there's no right one. Since the ascii - system is a bit limited, people use different marks to mark different effects such as vibrato or slide. Here's few I like to use:

Legend:
/ = slide up           \ = slide down
b = bendp              b = pre-bend
r = release-bend       h = hammer-on
p = pull-off           ~ = Vibrato
h = Natural Harmonica  h = Artificial Harmonic
x = Muted String       W = Wham w\bar

As I said, these are not the right nor the wrong ones, just what I like to use. I try to go by the rules you find in the tabs newsgroups, but sometimes their markings are bit obscure... I try to make my tabs as easily understandable as possible... I also like to write something about the song at the top of the tabs, since the song usually have somethings you might wanna know or explain.

I also always (if possible) mention the name of the album, the year it was released and the writers. You must remember that all of our tabs and all the other tabs around are NOT real transcriptions, or in any way approved by the band.

All the files are their author's own work and represent their interpretation of the song. You may only use these files for private study, scholarship, or research. All transcriptions on this site are the property of FreezeZone and cannot be used on any other website, ftp site or archive witout permission from FreezeZone or the tabs author.

Hopefully this clears out some things about this site and the tabs as a whole. Enjoy the music and don't be afraid to send your transcriptions in!

How to send tablatures?

In FreezeZone all the tablatures are in separate text-files to make sure it's easy to see them, read them and to save them. If you want to send you own tabs to FreezeZone first check that the song your sending hasn't been transcribed yet. If you have a correction send it in and we'll see if it's nessecary to post the correction.

If the song you're sending hasn't been transcribed, send it to iceman_ai@hotmail.com . Attatch the text file to your message. Use the name of the band and the song as the subject, so I'll know what the mail is about. I'll check the tab, make corrections if nessecary and send the corrected version for you to approve. If you agree with me, I'll post the tab on FreezeZone for all to enjoy. It's that easy. So keep the tabs coming and we'll make this the best tabs site on the net!

Mail me if you have any questions or need help in writing tabs. I'll try to help the best that I can.
